The CMDRA season brought to you by Screamin Eagle Performance Parts and Mission springs Brewery hit the 2/3 pole at Eagle Motorplex in sunny Ashcroft, B.C. August 5 and 6, 2000.

Due to a scheduling conflict with the ADBA’s Sturgis race we lost a large portion of our Pro-Classes to South Dakota but a hat’s off to all who did show up and put on a good show for our fans and sponsors.

With temperatures over 100 our racers had to endure a tricky race track for our first round of qualifying but as the sun began to set the race track cooled down and rally came around for the last two rounds of qualifying.

In the “Class Glass” Trophy series, our first all girl final between Angela Beard on her Yamaha and Janice Doerksen’s Kawasaki.  Angela took home the beautiful hardware supplied by Gary Whalen and Company of Abbotsford.

Next up was our Street Class made for bikes on D.O.T. tires.  In the final was last years champ, Dave Galbiati on him Maple Ridge Motorsport Kawasaki and Dave LeBlanc’s  Suzuki.  After the smoke Dave was good for the win.

In the Head Quarter Super/Gas Series, John Fyvies’s Sportster was on fire all weekend with one perfect 4.00 light and lots of lights in the 4.0’s and low 4 teens.  John met Saskatoon’s Bentley Hamm in the final .  Airdrie Alberta’s John Fyvie got to the finish line first and took the win.

Our biggest class the “V.P. Racing Fuels Super Bike Series was on the track next.  Mike Coffey got the best of last years champ and current #1 plate holder, Dan  Tempel on his Suzuki and took home the winners cheque.

The “Greg Coen Motor Co. Modified Series” was up next and 3 time winner this season, Steve Graff on his Harley Davidson of Smithers entry was the man to beat this weekend.  Steve met Edmonton’s, Andy Beauchiman in the final with Steve getting the better of Andy with a 9.31 to a 9.36 for a good win in a close race that left everyone on the starting line watching for the win light as it was too close to call.

We only had 1 Pro-Stock bike at Ashcroft and we’d like to thank Spike, Nino and the Haney Hawgs crew for coming out and making some passes for the crowd.  On a hot  August long weekend I’m quite sure there was other stuff to do but Spike and Nino ran the bike in the mid 8’s which is good for a hot race track and thin air.

In Pro Mod, Kelowna’s Gord Smith on the Silver Bullet was low qualifier and the class of the field all weekend.  Gord and Terry Schwiegert met in the final with Gord taking the victory at a 7.85 to an 8.13.

Our Non-Injected fuel bikes got to show their stuff next with Edmonton’s George Welch and Panic Racing/Future Cycle House of Speed’s Chris Gartman putting on a good show.  These guys are neck and neck for this years #1 plate so every round is important.

Gartman got the better of George this weekend winning with an 8.29 to George's 8.40.

The Delkron Top Fuel bikes took over the track next and we had 2 first time finalist in Jim Flower’s Flower Racing/Easy riders of Bellevue, Washington and Kevin Buyers, Ace Trucking backed entry doing battle for the Delkron title.  When the dust settled, Flowers was a first time winner taking Kevin out 8.23 to an 8.90.

As usual it’s time to thank people and first it’s the AIM volunteers for manning the gates all weekend and supplying cold water to the racers in the staging lanes.  Next Bill Dixon, your staging chief, Rick Bryant who controls the burn-out  area and Steve Graff’s crew chief scrapped the starting line in 105 heat.  Dave O’Hara of Hell Racing found some volunteers to dismantle the tents and pack them away and  Super Gas Racer Ted Cork who collected all the race banners for us.
