READY TO RALLY
Ground Zero - that place where I am coming from and know nothing. At times it's scary - I wish I could add more to the conversations where my buddies are talking about engines, peak performance and stuff - but I can't. Hard for me to say, but it's true. Ask me just about anything else, I can espouse freely at will but start talking about PSI, CI's and the like and I'm lost. Yup, that's me, "Out in Left Field, trying to catch a ball without a glove." You can see the wheels spinning as my mind tries to figure it out. Fortunately I have lots of good people around me willing to share their knowledge - to teach; and I am so ready to learn!
Maybe it's an advantage coming from this place of "not knowing." I'm not afraid to ask questions; the problem lies in that I tend to believe what I am told so I have to make sure that I ask the right people. Being a chick helps; it allows me the freedom I need to put my ego & bravado aside for a while so that I might get to where I need to go, to find those wide-open spaces. If I am alone on the Road I have to be able to do the basics and just a little bit more. Maybe I had better get out the old Bike Manual and take another look - Riding Season starts soon.
My Harley Davidson Electra Glide
Classic is the best Motorcycle ever in my opinion and Ladies, have I got luggage space! This Bike is geared to meet your traveling and shopping needs. I've gone grocery shopping with it - even hauled a Watermelon around on the back of the bike [tucked into a net of course] with no problems.
Once I'm on my Bike I can stay there all day - rain or shine. I dress warmly and am protected from the elements. I've fallen in love with my Ride and I am at peace. What more do I want?
This time of year I get to thinking, "Where am I going, what am I doing & who am I going to do it with? What Events do I want to attend?" The same questions plague me every year. This time it's different though as I'll be trying something new…
The Canadian Motorcycle Drag Racing
Association's [www.cmdra.com] High Desert Rally & Races in Ashcroft BC, Canada on August 25th & 26th, 2001 will see amazing Drag Races, Nitro at Nite and a Rally too! Life can't get much better than this now, can it?
Attending this Event means that not only do I get to participate in an action packed, fun filled weekend complete with Motorcycle Drag Racing but I get to see the Canadian Chaos Motorcycle Stunt Team perform as well. AIM is involved too and also planned are some Poker Runs, a Show & Shine, BBQ's, Beer Gardens, Bike Games, a Race School and maybe even a Dance. I can hardly wait!
Quite a few of us will be going - it's nice to Ride with friends and it sure makes the Trip more interesting. If you ever need help along the way then there it is.
I don't exactly know where else the Wind will be blowing me this year or what roads I'll be taking to get there. With my trusty Iron Horse and my Man at my side I know I'll be having the time of my life. Happy Trails Folks; I'm looking forward to seeing you at the Races!
